Instagram account Celeb Spellcheck has been gaining followers en masse since it launched last year, and now influencers have apparently whittled down the rumoured people behind it to two women.
If you're not across, Celeb Spellcheck mainly pokes fun at Australian influencers when they make spelling errors on Instagram. Lately, the account has branched out and will also occasionally post influencer faux pas moments, like this one from an ex-Bachelor star.
While many take the comedic jabs in their stride, the account has been criticised by some Australian influencers - ex-Love Island star Tayla Damir for example, who spoke to Shameless podcast about being featured in the past. Naturally, some want the identity of the secret creator/s outed - and if this piece of gossip from Sydney Morning Herald is right, they might be pretty close to a reveal.
According to the SMH, one table of Australian influencers at a recent Piper-Heidseck event in Melbourne were overheard discussing Celeb Spellcheck. Apparently there is more than one creator behind the account, with those at the event apparently crediting Celeb Spellcheck to two Melbourne-based publicists who hail from the Mornington Peninsula region.
The reason they have supposedly been exposed is due to their connections to other Melbourne socialites - according to the SMH, one of the women is dating a former high-profile AFL player, and the other is close friends with an Australia's Next Top Model alum, hence the reason their identities have become known to others in this social circle.
That being said, Celeb Spellcheck has done several "Ask Me Anything" segments on Instagram Stories, and while we do know the creator works in PR/media in Australia, they have already shut down this rumour, telling The Daily Mail the rumours are false.
Last month, Rozalia Russian said in an Instagram Story that she knew "a few people" who knew Celeb Spellcheck's identity, but the account administrator was quick to shut down the rumours, saying they believe Rozalia "thinks I'm someone else."
One thing is for sure - people won't stop speculating about Celeb Spellcheck's identity anytime soon.
