The new contestants of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! are set to take part in the goriest Bushtucker Trial the series has seen, inspired by Netflix’s Squid Games, it has been revealed.

The Korean horror drama was the most buzzed-about show last year, thanks to its gruesome games that led to deathly consequences for the characters taking part.

Mail Online has revealed that I’m A Celebrity contestants will face similarly intense competition in an upcoming trial, as they don green tracksuits just like those worn in Squid Game, created specifically for the trial by the costume department.

A show insider told the publication: “The Squid Game style challenge is the trial show bosses are most excited about.

“Being back in Australia means challenges can be on a far bigger scale and they’ve really pushed the boat out for this one.

“Viewers will no doubt know all about Squid Game and its bloodthirsty content, therefore pushing the celebrities into that world will make for exciting telly.”

Squid Games became Netflix’s biggest ever show after 1.65billion hours of content was recorded to have been watched by subscribers within the series’ first 28 days of release.

The show follows a group of 456 players instructed to take part in a number of deadly games, with the promise of a life-changing cash prize for the winner who survives all.

Each episode saw the number of contestants whittled down to vastly less numbers, as they failed to make it out of the previous games alive.

It is believed that the Front Men and intimidating guards in the series will also be portrayed in the Squid Game-style Bushtucker trial.

This news comes after it was confirmed this week that suspended MP Matt Hancock is joining I’m A Celebrity with the rest of the show’s contestants in Australia.

Hancock, 44, has received heavy criticism for his decision to take part in the show as a working politician, and was swiftly removed from his position as Tory whip following his announcement as a contestant earlier this week.

Chief Whip Simon Hart MP said: “Following a conversation with Matt Hancock, I have considered the situation and believe this is a matter serious enough to warrant suspension of the whip with immediate effect.”

I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! starts on ITV on Sunday November 6 at 9pm.
