Mayilsamy, who was a well-known comedian in Tamil cinema, died in Chennai on Sunday. Members of the Tamil film fraternity and politicians expressed their condolences on social media.

By Latha Srinivasan: Mayilsamy was a Tamil comedian who has worked with the who's who in Tamil cinema. His demise on February 19th sent shockwaves throughout the Tamil film industry and celebrities took to social media to express their condolences.
Mayilsamy was a stage performer, stand-up comedian, TV host, and theatre artist. His well-known roles include those in Dhool, Vaseegara, Ghilli, Giri, Uthamaputhiran, Veeram, Kanchana, and Kangalal Kaidhu Sei. In fact, he won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian for Kangalal Kaidhu Sei. He was recently seen in Nenjuku Needhi, Veetla Vishesham and The Legend. The comic was a regular guest judge on Asathapovathu Yaaru on Sun TV as well.

CELEBS EXPRESS THEIR CONDOLENCES
Ulaganayagan Kaml Haasan called him a dear friend in his tweet as did actor Sarath Kumar.
Actress Sakshi Agarwal remembered his positive attitude and sense of humor in her message.
Renowned director Bharathiraja also took to social media to express his sadness.
MAYILSAMY AND POLITICS
In fact, even Tamil politicians remembered him since he was involved in state politics. TTV Dhinakaran, founding General Secretary of Amma Makkal Munneetra Kazagam (AMMK), also tweeted out his condolences remembering the actor's interest in politics. He spoke about how Amma Jayalalithaa had a lot of respect for him.
Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin also expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and remembered how his father, Kalaignar Karunanidhi, also lauded Mayilsamy during his time. Mayilsamy was known for his ability to win over people with his fiery debates, he said.
AIADMK's O Panneerselvam (OPS) also remembered the Tamil comic and recalled him as an ardent fan of AIADMK's M G Ramachandran, an iconic actor and politician.

OPS stated his demise was a big loss to Tamil cinema and expressed his condolences to Mayilsamy's bereaved family.
