By India Today Entertainment Desk: Veteran Telegu star Sarath Babu passed away on Monday, May 22. The actor, who had been battling a prolonged illness, breathed his last at a private Hospital in Hyderabad. His condition was said to be critical. The 71-year-old was undergoing treatment for multi-organ damage at AIG Hospital, Hyderabad.

Soon after the news of his demise broke on social media, celebs were quick to offer their tributes. They mourned the huge loss while sending their prayers to the family in this tough hour. Kamal Haasan took to Twitter and offered his heartfelt condolences and wrote, "A great actor and a great friend, Sarathbabu has passed away. The days of acting with him are lingering in my mind. Introduced by my mentor in Tamil, he excelled in many timeless roles. Cinema has lost a good actor. My heartfelt condolences to him. (sic)."

SARATH BABU FILMOGRAPHY

Sarath Babu worked predominantly in Tamil and Telugu cinema. He has appeared in more than 200 films, including Hindi films too. He made his debut in 1973 but gained fame in 1978 through the Tamil film Nizhal Nijamagiradhu, directed by K Balachander. He has received eight state Nandi Awards. Sarath was last seen in Malli Pelli as Peddayana this year. He also appeared in Vasantha Mullai. Sarath Babu has also worked extensively in the television industry.
