Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani spotted dining at Inwood restaurant Shinsei
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, newlyweds and co-hosts of the NBC singing competition The Voice, were recently spotted dining at Highland Park-area sushi restaurant Shinsei. The duo were spotted Saturday night, according to Deuxmoi, a celebrity gossip site. A tipster sent an image to Deuxmoi of the couple dining at the restaurant, and said that fellow diners offered to pay for the multimillion dollar recording artists’ meals, though Shelton and Stefani declined the offer.
The duo, who met as judges on the set of The Voice, got married earlier this month at Shelton’s ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Shinsei, which has been open for about ten years, is owned by Dallas restaurateurs Tracy Rathbun and Lynae Fearing.
Lakewood Smokehouse closes after five years
Lakewood Smokehouse, one of Dallas’s essential barbecue spots, has closed after five years. The restaurant, which opened in 2016 at 1901 Abrams Road, closed for good on July 22 with a post on Facebook blaming COVID-19 for the closure.
“The last year and a half has been extremely difficult for the restaurant industry,” the post said. “We have been just hanging on and hoping things would improve but unfortunately, that has not been the case.”
In addition to standard barbecue fare, Lakewood was also known for its smoked turkey pizzas, smoked salsa, and creative sides like ranch potato salad.
Haute Sweets Patisserie opens second location in Hillcrest Village after car runs through original storefront
Haute Sweets Patisserie, the Lake Highlands bakery known for its beignets, candied bacon, and freshly-roasted coffee, has rallied after a difficult 2020 with the opening of a second location at 6959 Arapaho Road in Hillcrest Village.
Haute Sweets had already struggled through COVID-19 closures and other challenges in 2020 when, on November 17, a vehicle lost control in the parking lot and crashed through the restaurant. Chef-owner Tida Pichakron and two of her employees were hospitalized after the incident. Neighbors and fans of the bakery would eventually raise more than $23,000 for the victims of the accident.
Haute Sweets’ second location includes savory beignets, chocolate lava cake, and other dishes that made the original spot a hit, plus a new addition, according to the Dallas Morning News. Haute Sweets has teamed up with woman-owned ice cream shop Sweet Firely to sell the frozen treat, which comes in flavors like bellini sorbet and peanut butter chocolate, at the bakery.
