Fitzy & Wippa spilled the beans.
Earlier in the year, the country was blessed with the news that we would be getting not one, but two seasons of Big Brother Australia in 2021, only the second one would be a celeb version.
We’re just two seasons into Channel 7’s version of the cult reality TV series and oh boy is this VIP season getting people hyped.
The new season, called Big Brother VIP, is coming to Aussie screens this year, but we don’t yet have an exact premiere date. It's set to be held in another new house, so who knows where this one's going to be.
When the news was announced back in April, Channel 7 described the cast list as some of “Australia’s best-known celebrities,” so with that glowing review, they must be A-listers, right?
Well, a lot of us weren’t super convinced. With shows like The Masked Singer confusing us each week with the reveal of their Aussie ‘celebrity,’ a lot of us didn’t have high hopes.
However, after an episode of NOVA’s Fitzy & Wippa radio show, some of the names of the celebs going in have been leaked.
Fitzy & Wippa revealed that they had been secretly tipped off about these rumoured celebrities and included on the list is How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris and Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power.
They’re not exactly names I ever thought I’d hear together but here’s the goss.
“I don’t know who’s going in but well I got told is that the cast will blow you away,” OG Big Brother contestant Sarah McGilvray told the boys.
“And I’m thinking seriously? I got told ‘No, don’t think just Australians, think international’.”
Wippa then added, “I can tell you who it is because he came out for Australia’s got talent, that got cut…”
Neil was actually in Australia to film the newest series of Australia’s Got Talent but after all those pesky COVID-19 lockdowns in June, the show was canned, and Neil was shipped back home. But who’s to say he hasn’t returned since?
Plus, considering Fitzy is also an ex-Big Brother contestant, I’m somewhat inclined to believe any rumours that he’s dishing out.
TV Blackbox also confirmed that Channel 7 has decided to press pause on Australia’s Got Talent—at least until next year—while they focus on producing episodes of Big Brother VIP.
Watch this space for more deets.
