Celebrities and football legends from far and wide are coming together once again as England goes up against the rest of the world in the ultimate match – Soccer Aid 2021.

Having first launched in 2006, created by Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes, Soccer Aid has raised tens of millions of pounds for Unicef UK.

The event raises an incredible amount of charity, in addition to providing fantastic entertainment in the form of celebs taking on some of the most talented footballers in the game.

This year, the England team is being captained by Olly Murs and also includes singer James Arthur, Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah, comedian Joel Dommett and TV personality Mark Wright.

The legends on their team include the likes of Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, Jamie Redknapp and David James, while they’re being managed by former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson.

Over on the world squad, sprinting legend Usain Bolt is captaining the team, which includes Love Island winner Kem Cetinay, Line of Duty star Martin Compston and singer Tom Grennan, with the legends on their team including Roberto Carlos, Pablo Zabaleta and Julie Fleeting.

While some of the celebrities and legends will be making their Soccer Aid debuts, others will be making their comebacks on the pitch, having competed in the match before.

So which celeb and which legend have made the most appearances at Soccer Aid, including the 2021 match?

Olly Murs

Olly Murs is the celebrity who’s played in the most Soccer Aid matches, having been a part of seven.

His first match was in 2010, captaining the England squad in 2018, 2020 and 2021.

Ben Shephard

Ben Shephard has also made seven appearances at Soccer Aid, having taken part in the very first match in 2006.

In 2018, the TV presenter had to withdraw from the match due to an injury and so he was a part of the coaching staff instead.

Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams, one of the minds behind Soccer Aid, has made seven appearances in total, three playing and four in a coaching role.

Robbie was captain of the England team in 2006 and 2010 and is one of the coaches for the squad for 2021.

Bradley Walsh

The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh is a regular at Soccer Aid, having made eight appearances in total over the years.

Bradley’s first two appearances were as a player, before going on to coach on six occasions.

Which legend has made the most appearances at Soccer Aid?

David Seaman

Former England and Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has made the most appearances at Soccer Aid out of all the legends, appearing a whopping nine times.

The only year that David missed was 2020, and appearing as a coach for the England squad in 2021.

Jamie Redknapp

Former Tottenham Hotspur and England footballer Jamie Redknapp has enjoyed a kickabout at Soccer Aid seven times, participating in the very first Soccer Aid match 15 years ago.

He’s back again this year, having not taken part in the 2020 match.

Jaap Stam

Dutch football manager Jaap Stam, currently the manager for FC Cincinnati, has played in Soccer Aid five times.

Throughout his career as a professional footballer, Jaap payed for teams including Manchester United, Ajaz and Milan.

Harry Redknapp and Sam Allardyce

Both Harry Redknapp and Sam Allardyce have coached at Soccer Aid six times.

Harry has coached the England squad twice and the team from the rest of the world four times, while Sam has coached the England squad six times.

Soccer Aid kicks off on Saturday September 4, with coverage starting at 6.30pm on ITV.
