The announcement came 13 years after the conservatorship was first put in place in 2008, and months after Spears gave a personal testimony of her experience under the arrangement over the last decade.

Spears even posted herself, sharing a video of her fans celebrating outside of the Los Angeles courthouse where the hearing took place.
