Jo Koy slammed the Golden Globes’ A-list audience in his first stand-up appearance since his disastrous opening monologue as host of the awards show.
“Lot of marshmallows, man,” the “Easter Sunday” star said onstage in St. Louis, Mo., Friday, per Variety.
“They’re delicious, but goddamn, they’re soft. I just come from a different time. I see the changes that are happening. I get it, but goddamn, can we f—king laugh at ourselves?”
During his set, which kicked off his months-long “Joy Koy World Tour,” the comic jokingly addressed the audience, saying, “I got a feeling none of you motherf—kers watched it, and I’m kinda happy.”
“It feels good to live in this country. We get to say what we want to say. Don’t be apologetic about it at all. Be able to…speak your mind.”
The comedian is referring to his Jan. 7 opening monologue in which he bashed Taylor Swift for the NFL’s decision to continuously feature the singer when she is in the stands supporting boyfriend Travis Kelce.
“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” he joked at the time.
Koy, 52, quickly caught onto how his joke fell “flat,” shyly telling the celebrity-filled crowd, “Sorry about that.”
However, social media took notice of the “Blank Space” singer’s icy glare after he made the jab.
“If Taylor Swift death stares could actually kill, Jo Koy would now be deceased,” tweeted Piers Morgan.

“taylor did NAWT think that was funny oh i’m giggling,” a second wrote while another added, “TAYLOR WAS SOOO NOT AMUSED OMFGGG.”
Koy’s new comments about his monologue are the harshest he’s delivered since that fateful night.
Since the show, Koy has conceded that the Swift joke was “weird” and fell “a little flat,” explaining that it wasn’t his intention to bash the Grammy-winning artist.
“I was trying to make fun of the NFL using cutaways and how the Globes didn’t have to do that,” Koy said in an interview on “GMA3.”
“So it was more of a jab toward the NFL. But it just didn’t come out that way.”
Koy also told the LA Times that he had “no ill intent” when he wrote the Swift joke.
“What hurts the most is me just supporting Taylor, I support her, I love her work. I got nieces that I bought tickets for. There’s no ill intent in that joke.”
Other jokesters have come to Koy’s aid since he started facing backlash.
“The View” co-host Sara Haines even told viewers to “get a sense of humor.” Whoopi Goldberg also defended Koy, calling hosting gigs “brutal.”
“If you don’t know the room, if you’ve not been in these rooms before and you’re thrust out there, it’s hit or miss,” she added. “[But Jo is] as good as it gets when it comes to stand-ups.”
