He’s just your average guy — well, kind of.
Prince William, 41, stunned royal fans as he handed out veggie burgers in a new video posted by Sorted Food, an online cooking community, on Sunday.
The burgers were made of ingredients awarded with The Earthshot Prize, an initiative launched by Prince William in 2020, which “searches for extraordinary solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges.”
In the video, the future monarch can be seen making and handing out the burgers — potato-based spicy “meat” flavored with garlic, ginger and chili complete with pickled vegetables served in a bun — from a food truck parked in London along with the chefs of the Sorted Food channel.
In one scene, Prince William, in a light-blue button-down shirt, turns around from the truck’s grill to serve some surprised fans the burger, telling them, “Coming right up!”
The four patrons looked at each other when they saw the future King of England, their mouths agape.
“I was shell-shocked,” one of the customers admitted to the camera. “Like, I froze.”
Another added, “Of all the things I was expecting, it was not that.”
One diner said he wondered if he was “dreaming.”
He continued to tell each of the customers about the Earthshot Prize and detailed how exactly the burgers were made that day.
“Come and grab your burgers,” the Prince offered as he handed out the patties, which were served up in a white box made by a company called Notpla, who makes their packaging with a seaweed coating instead of a plastic one.
In order to make the plant-based cuisine, the Sorted Food chefs also used Mukuru Clean Stoves, which were designed in Kenya to help reduce air pollution, and the ingredients for the burger were grown by a company called Kheyti, which operates a greenhouse in India.
All three brands were last year’s recipients of the Earthshot Prize.
And, while it’s exciting that Prince William was able to serve up some burgers to the public, he’s not the only one who has taken part in the trend lately.
Last week, singer Lana Del Rey was spotted picking up a shift at a Waffle House in Alabama.
It’s unclear exactly why the star was there, but she posed for a few photo ops with fans and even poured them coffee.
Comedian David Letterman was also seen last week bagging groceries at a Hy-Vee grocery store in Iowa.
However, it just appears that he was re-connecting with his roots, which he explained in a video uploaded to the comedian’s Instagram account Sunday.
It showed Letterman telling the Hy-Vee manager that he has “spent a considerable amount of my life in a grocery store in Indianapolis” and that it was “the last of the singular, independent owned grocery stores and I loved it.”
